It looks like Cheryl and Liam Payne's baby boy already has perfect timing and after weeks of speculation about just when he'd make an appearance, the couple have announced that he's arrived just in time for Mother's Day.

Born on Wednesday March 22nd,the pair have spent the past few daysgetting used to parenthood in private, but have now shared an adorable first photo of their bundle of joy.

Taking to Instagram to share the news with some heartfelt words and a pic of Liam cradling his son, both he and Cheryl shared a few words about just how smitten they are with their new arrival.

"I'm incredibly happy to welcome our new baby boy into the world, it's a moment that I will never forget for the rest of my life and my favourite memory I have so far," Liam wrote. "I'm completely in awe of his incredible mother and how she has been the whole way through this, she's really made my dreams come true."

Cheryl explained that while they are yet to decide on a name, she and Liam are totally blown away by him, saying: "On Wednesday 22nd March Liam and I became parents to an incredibly beautiful, healthy baby boy, weighing 7lb 9 and looking like a dream.

"Although he still doesn't have a name he is already stealing hearts. We are all madly in love and overwhelmingly happy with our little arrival. Happy Mother's Day to all the mothers around the world. A day that now has a different meaning to me forever"
