Luis Fonsi and Daddy Yankee's 'Despacito' Is Now the First Video to Amass 4 Billion YouTube Views
There's no stopping Luis Fonsi and Daddy Yankee. Not only has their hit collaboration 'Despacito' topped charts around the world but it has also tied Mariah Carey and Boyz II Men's 'One Sweet Day' as the longest reigning US Number 1 of all time.
Now the 'Despacito' music video has just become the first to surpass four billion views on YouTube.
YES. 'DESPACITO' REALLY HAS BEEN VIEWED OVER FOUR BILLION TIMES!
The hit single first broke YouTube records by becoming the most viewed video of all time earlier this year overtaking Charlie Puth and Wiz Khalifa's 'See You Again'. It then hit the incredible and unprecedented four billion viewsmilestone yesterday.
If we're being honest, half of those views may or may not have been from us.
Taking to Twitter to celebrate it Luis Foniswrote: "4 billion views!!! Gracias por el apoyo familia. Gracias Puerto Rico!"
One of the amazing things about the video's success is that while Justin Bieber's remix of the song certainly helped the single's chart success, the video itself is just Luis Fonsi and Daddy Yankee, proving just how popular Latin music is internationally.
Alongside it, other tracks like 'Mi Gente' by J Balvin and Willy William and Becky G's 'Mayores' havethrived globally.
And in the UK even Little Mix have embraced the trend with their CNCO collaboration 'Reggaeton Lento (Remix)'.
We cannot wait to see what Luis Fonsi and Daddy Yankee do next.
