Adele's 21 Is Biggest-Selling Album In World... Again
Adele's 21 has been named as the world's biggest-selling album for the second year in succession.
The British star - who won an Oscar for her Skyfall theme on Sunday night - sold another 8.3 million copies of her hugely successful second album in 2012, according to the International Federation of the Phonographic Industry.
She was well clear of Taylor Swift's Red - in second spot with 5.3m.
And One Direction bagged both the third and fourth spots on the list with Up All Night and Take Me Home - reaping the rewards of breaking America (and the rest of the planet) with sales of 4.5m and 4.4m respectively.
Lana Del Rey's Born To Die was another huge success, also notching up sales of 4.4m and rounding out the top five.
Carly Rae Jepsen had the biggest-selling single of the year with her catchy hit Call Me Maybe, which sold 12.3m units.
Gotye's Somebody That I Used To Know was second with 11.8m and PSY's viral phenomenon Gangnam Style was third with 9.7m.
Fourth place was occupied by fun with We Are Young (9.6m) and fifth by Maroon 5's Payphone (9.1m).
