Avicii: 'Aloe Blacc Wrote Wake Me Up Lyrics In Two Hours'
The Swedish DJ spills the story behind the chart-topping track…
He’s held the top spot in the UK charts for two weeks running – and now, Swedish hit-maker [uuid=beb0df83-0221-4c02-95ae-26a344fbcaea]Avicii[/uuid] has dished the dirt on how his new single Wake Me Up came together!
Speaking to the Daily Star, the 23-year old revealed: “I had a demo with Mac Davis singing, the guy who wrote all the Elvis Presley stuff, but I needed another singer to do the parts.
“At the same time I was tipped off about doing another track with Aloe Blacc and I started working on that track.
Avicii continued: “When I was with Mike Einziger from Incubus, we came up with the chord progression and the melody for Wake Me Up but no real lyrics.
“None of us sing and we really needed to get that demo down and the only person I knew that lived in LA was Aloe, so I called him and he was free.
He added: “Lyrics come really easy to him so he wrote them in a couple of hours and we finished the track.”
Avicii had previously labelled Wake Me Up "a fun experiment" during an exclusive chat with MTV UK.
The uplifting summer anthem has kept [uuid=513c3e62-8945-48cb-bbe1-2d2cc6323351]One Direction[/uuid]'slatest single Best Song Ever out of the top spot in the charts, and is the UK’s fastest-selling single of 2013.
