Lana Del Rey has shed some light on the meaning behind her new single Born To Die, insisting that 'it's not about f***ing.'
During an interview with Q magazine, Lana - real name Lizzie Grant - was asked why the live version of Born To Die features the line 'Let me f*** you hard in the pouring rain', revealing it got edited to 'kiss you' instead.
Speaking of the decision to alter the explicit lyrics, the singer told the publication: "I'm singing it to my boyfriend and it's not about f***ing."
The MTV Brand New For 2012 contender explained: "It's more about…when I found someone that made me feel really happy, that was so different to the way I'd felt before in my life."
Lana also revealed that despite her hit single Video Games seeming to be about sadness, it actually tells the story of how happy she was to be living with her boyfriend - despite the fact he was preoccupied with his console.
She admitted: "I would come home and watch him play video games. I never joined in as I'd get killed straight away. It was just about us being together in the same room."
When asked about her debut LP, Born To Die, which is due for release at the end of January, Del Rey promised it would be "a dark love story seen through hopeful eyes."
The 25-year old added: "People talking about their lives - it gave me the freedom to write about whatever I felt over whatever strange melody I wanted."
In other Lana Del Rey news, her record label boss Ferdy Unger-Hamilton has slammed accusations suggesting that she is a manufactured act, telling Q: "Lana knows what she wants like few artists I've ever met.
"She likes to control every aspect of her career. Often we come across someone who is really good at writing songs or singing them, but Lana is that rare thing - someone who can do it all."
