Halsey Raises An Important Point About The Perception Of Bisexuality

She's calling out a bunch of offensive stereotypes.

Halsey has never one to shy away from discussing her sexuality and has now used her voice to debunk one of the most common myths that people still seem to attach to bisexuality.

The singer is currently dating rapper G-Eazy and has discussed how ostracising it can be when people incorrectly define her sexuality based on who she happens to be seeing at the time.

'Let's all get checking out an update from MTV News...'

Pointing out that she’s part of the LGBTQ community whether she’s dating a guy or a girl, Halsey wrote: "So if I’m dating a guy, I’m straight, and if I date a woman, I’m a lesbian," she wrote sarcastically. "The only way to be a #True bisexual is to date 2 people at once."

The 23-year-old quickly clarified that the last part was a critique of peoples’ perceptions of bisexuality rather than a call to action, and it wasn’t long before fans came forward to praise her for starting a conversation around the issue.

One fan responded: “I'm marrying a bisexual man...I get it. Regardless of gender, who they choose doesn't mean they aren't bisexual,” as another pointed out that there’s still a "long way"to go when it comes to tackling bisexual erase once and for all.

This isn’t the first time Halsey has discussed navigating a music career as a bisexual woman. In an interview with Paper in 2016, she said: "It’s just a shame that it’s so hard for marginalized or minority people to get the same pop music experience as people who are heterosexual or generally part of the majority.

She added: “They deserve the same pop music experience.”

Hear, hear.
