Musicians Team Up For Anti-Donald Trump Protest Playlist '30 Days, 30 Songs' Project

It features brand new songs from Franz Ferdinand, Death Cab For Cutie, R.E.M. and more!

With the US presidential campaign getting closer day by day, the chaos, controversy and potency of the reaction is snowballing at a phenomenal rate.

Inevitably, Donald Trump is at the epicenter of that reaction, and as polls have begun to suggest the candidates are pretty much neck and neck, we’ve seen some of the world’s biggest celebrities weighing in with their concerns regarding the polarizing Republican candidate.

We’ve already seen a range of hugely famous actors including the likes of Robert De Niro, Robert Downey Jr. and Scarlett Johansson voice their opposition to Trump, but now a group of popular musicians have also aligned themselves against his campaign...

In what might just be yet another first for a US presidential election, an independent project created by writer Dave Eggers entitled '30 Days, 30 Songs' has recently launched in support of defeating this year’s Republican nominee.

'30 Days, 30 Songs' is a daily updating playlist available via Spotify that features a mix of original material and unheard tracks from a range of brilliant independent musicians, all of whom are campaigning against the prospect of a “President Donald J. Trump.”

A new track will be released each day until Election Day on November 8th. This first week’s collection features original songs by Death Cab for Cutie, Jim James, Aimee Mann, Thao Nguyen, clipping., Bhi Bhiman, and a previously unreleased live R.E.M. song.

Just today, Scottish rockers Franz Ferdinand released the project’s latest track, an anti-Trump song entitled 'Demagogue'.

A final total of 30 brand new or original songs are due to be released over the next few weeks, so keep an eye on the playlist throughout the month!

All proceeds generated by the project will go to the Center for Popular Democracy and their efforts to achieve Universal Voter Registration for all Americans.
