Camila Cabello has revealed that she messed up her chance to give Nick Jonas a celebratory kiss on New Year's Eve.

The singer was performing her hit single on New Year's Rockin' Eve live in Times Square when she saw her opportunity to ring in 2018 with a smooch from the 25-year-old Levels singer.

In an interview on the Tonight Show, Camila revealed she was already kind of bummed that she didn't get to see the year out with her family:"It's kind of bittersweet because when you go into the ball drop thing, they don't let you bring your family up with you.

"During the ball drop moment, Cuban people do this thing where we have 12 grapes and we eat them during the last 12 seconds when we make like a resolution or a wish for each grape that we eat ... you're like, good health, get a boyfriend."

That's when the penny dropped that both she and Nick Jonas were in the same vicinity when people are generally expected to lock lips: "The ball was dropping, and I was like, am I gonna kiss Nick Jonas? Because it's like the New Year's thing," Cabello revealed to Jimmy Fallon.

Unfortunately the moment never quite materialised, with Camila admitting that she "chickened out" when it came to actually initiating the smooch: "Mariah Carey did blow me a kiss, so that was good," she conceded.

So there it is. Camila and Nick let the moment pass them by in 2018, but there's still a tiny glimmer of hope that they could put this to rights in 2019.Fingers crossed.
