Last year, she made history as the first transgender person to be nominated for an Emmy and even landed on thecover of Time magazine, and now Laverne Cox is at it again – as she’sset to become Madame Tussauds’ first transgender waxwork.

Laverne will be making history when her wax figure is unveiled at the San Francisco museum during Pride Weekend on June 26, and the Orange Is The New Black star is clearly thrilled about the news.

In a statement, Laverne revealed: “I am so deeply honoured to have been asked to be part of the Madame Tussauds legacy.

"When I think about being who I am, a black trans woman from a working class background raised in Mobile, Alabama, this honour feels even more improbable and extraordinary.

"I hope that this will be a source of inspiration for everyone who encounters it to believe that there dreams matter and are possible."

Madame Tussauds also voiced their excitement at having Laverne be a part of their museum, saying: “[We are] proud to celebrate Ms. Cox’s outstanding achievements and the impact she has made through raising awareness and her stance on equality and inclusion within the LGBT community.”

Recently, Laverne spoke out about Caitlyn Jenner’s incredible Vanity Fair cover, calling it ‘deeply courageous’ and ‘revolutionary’.
