Justin Bieber made his triumphant return to the VMAs tonight (August 31) and it was all a bit emotional.

Performing his new track 'What Do You Mean', as well as previous single 'Where Are U Now', Biebs proved he's all grown up with some fancy footwork and an all black ensemble.

He then preceded to basically levitate with some epic lighting and harness handy work, before finishing his performance with a few tears.

Yep, clearly thrilled to finally be back in the spotlight after a few years away, JB couldn't help but find it all a bit overwhelming and have a little cry on stage.

We know how you feel Justin. We always have a cry whenever our birthday is over and we know there'll be no more presents. That's the same thing, right?
