McFly's Dougie Poynter Reveals Suicide Attempt
McFlystar Dougie Poynter has revealed he tried to commit suicide when suffering from depression over drink and drug abuse.
The 24-year old, who [uuid=1bb75d9c-ea0b-41b1-98e7-894f48196005]The Saturdays singer Frankie Sandford, claims he checked into The Priory after trying to kill himself when his drinking spiralled out of control.
Speaking about McFly's new autobiography Unsaid Things… Our Story on Alan Carr's Chatty Man, Poynter agreed with the funnyman that at times, the book "got really dark."
The I'm A Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here! winner said: "It's always good to reflect on that sort of stuff. I'm in a really, really good place now. It is quite easy to forget.
"It's quite therapeutic to go back, quite scary and a bit of an eye opener into how dark it can get if you take your foot off the gas and stop looking after yourself."
He went on to add that he often became "so battered" that he had no idea what he was doing.
A friend has since addressed Dougie's suicide attempt, telling The Mirror: "We were all devastated.
"His drinking was out of control and he thought ending it all was the easy and perhaps only option available to him."
