Robbie Williams has been quizzed by police in the Bahamas over the armed robbery of two paparazzi who had been snapping the star the previous day.

The Angels singer is thought to be helping police with their inquiries after the photographers Matt Sanchez and Carlos Mendez claimed four armed men broke into their rented room on Sunday.

It has been alleged that a gun was held to Mr. Sanchez’s head as the robbers threatened to kill them before running off with $20,000 worth of cash, cameras and other equipment.

The photographers told the police that a few hours before the crime they had argued with Robbie’s entourage after they used zoom lenses to snap Williams.

Their exclusive snaps showed the former Take That star smoking a large hand-rolled cigarette on the beach where he has rented an ocean-front mansion.

Superintendent Ellsworth Moss last night stated Williams had been questioned about the robbery but stressed the star was not a suspect.

Moss said: “We don’t think he was the one who actually committed the robbery, but it may have been a spin-off or may have been triggered by what reportedly happened with his party on the beach,”

Two men are said to be in custody in connection with the case but no further details have been released.
