Get To Know: Ebenezer

He's worked with artists from Craig David to Ty Dolla $ign, but now is speaking his own truth...

Ebenezer is finallypainting a picture of his own truth. The UK based artist has been producing tracks with huge artists from Craig David to Ty Dolla $ign, and now finally has an opportunity to create on his own terms.

Followinghis'Bad Romantic'EP earlier this year as well as his latest single '53 Sundays',''the producer, rapper and singer stemming from Tottenham in North London, is trying to take a slice of hip-hop usually associated with superficial wealth bragging, and inject it with some honesty from his own life.

'Ebenezer’s stunning music video ’53 Sundays’ speaks for itself, check it out below.'

In the UK hip-hop scene, Ebenezer stands out with an unbelievably unique sound, and since he'salready collaborating with artists like A Boogie with da Hoodie, Stefflon Don and Rejjie Snow - right now is the time to Get To Know Ebenezerin our latest introducing interview below...

1) For those who don’t know about you and your music, tell us a little bit about who you are and where you’re from…

I'm an artist as well as a songwriter and a producer, originally born in east London but mainly raised in north. I’ve worked with, written and/or produced for artists like Jeremih, Ty Dolla $ign, A Boogie with da Hoodie, Craig David and many more...

2) Describe your sound in three words…

Honest, dark, emotional.

3) Who inspired you to start a career in music?

Kanye West and Nas are the two who mainly inspired me to start doing music, but so many along the way have added fuel to that fire - from Skepta and JME, to Jay Z and Drake.

4) Who are your biggest musical influences?

It would have to be Drake, Kanye West and Travis Scott

5) Tell us about the writing and recording process for your new album Bad Romantic…

I wouldn’t call it an album, it’s more a conceptual art piece. My writing process for this piece was honestly just being at a low point in my life, and hearing the same old 'horse manure' about chains, watches, cars and women became tedious and overbearing. Don’t get it twisted... I rap and sing about all of the stuff but I felt music lacked honesty. So, I just decided to tell the world the truth about how I grew up. Fortunately, I produce my own beats and write my own music, so it was easy to curate and really paint a vivid picture.

6) What can we expect from your live shows?

You can expect to feel. You don’t have to come to my show and have water thrown over you or just mosh - you can come to feel and be inspired.

7) What has been your biggest career highlight so far?

My biggest career highlight will always be working with my friends and family… Tre Jean-Marie, ADP, Shae Jacobs, Levi Lenox, maestro the baker, TSB, IO, D mile and many others. Too many to mention! I have awesome friends and family.

8) Have you met anyone and been totally starstruck?

Nope, and I don’t think I will anymore. I used to feel like I would but to be honest, we are all just human. Some have been fortunate enough to have been given an opportunity and seized it as well as stayed consistent, which I admire and also hope to accomplish, but nobody is better than anybody else.

9) What’s on your iPod/playlists that people wouldn’t expect?

Japanese music mainly from Anime cause I’m low-key a nerd. Rock Music and a splash of classical, in case there are any elderly people that want to ride shotgun in the whip lol

10) When can we see you live?

I’m playing Leeds festival on the 24th August and Reading on the 26th, but keep an eye on my social media platforms as I’ll be announcing more stuff on there!
