After a very difficult few weeks in the public eye where it’s all been kickin’ off, Charlotte Crosby has headed Down Under to Australia as shetakes leave from Geordie Shore.

While the new series of Geordie films in the Med with the rest of the housemates - including Gaz Beadle - Charlotte has confirmed her break on Twitter where she posted yesterday thatthe season finale of Big Birthday Battle “would be the last time you will see me in @mtvgeordieshore”. HOWAY!

Jetting off to Australia, the Geordie lassshared an exclusive message with MTV about where her head is at right now.

Charlotte told us:“Well, I'm not going to lie. The past couple of months have been tough to say the least.

I always said I'd be on Geordie Shore til the end, but real life can interfere with the best-laid plans and sometimes the "heavens" send signs to help us find different paths.

I won’t get back into the details, but I just wanted to say a massive thank you to everyone at MTV for giving me such an amazing opportunity on Geordie Shore.

To all my fellow Geordie Shore cast and crew - you are the best! I've made some amazing friends for life, shared some unforgettable experiences and have memories that nothing and no one can ever take away from me.

Thank you also, from the bottom of my heart, to all the amazing fans who've supported Geordie Shore and me from the start. That's the BAFTA speech sorted.

I'm in my second home Oz at the minute, and I'll be going to the opening night of Carmen at The Sydney Opera House. Very excited to see my first opera!

I'm massively excited for the future and - don't worry - this isn’t the last you’ll see of me on MTV. I'm working on a great new idea with the team there and will always be one of the ‘family’.”

We still can’t really BELIEVE this is the end of an era.

Charlotte has been on Geordie Shore since the first series of the smash hit reality show and her on/off love affair with co-star Gaz Beadle has kept fans hooked season after season.

Tragically, Charlotte suffered an ectopic pregnancy a few weeks ago with Gaz’s baby and finally called time on things with Gary as she revealed the details of what she went through in a heart-wrenching interview with Heat magazine.

Producers for Geordie Shore have confirmed: “After going through an incredibly difficult time in her personal life recently, Charlotte has decided to take a breather from Geordie Shore.

We support her decision entirely and want to thank Charlotte for all the laughs and mortal moments she’s given fans throughout her time on the show.We're working with Charlotte on other new and exciting projects, and she knows the door is open for her to return to Geordie Shore when she’s ready."

Talking about her Geordie Shore situation in an interview forthis week’s Heat mag, Charlotte said: “It’s not that I hate it… I literally love the show and I love everyone in it. If I was to walk in there now, I wouldn’t be able to go.”

Char added: “Marnie can’t get her head around it. She keeps saying, ‘Are you never coming back? Just have a break then you can come back.’ I just say, ‘Aye, I’ll think about it.’”
