Dave and Fredo Make History As ‘Funky Friday’ Becomes Their First UK Number One
Dave and Fredo have knocked Calvin Harris and Sam Smith off the top of the Official UKSingles Chart after five weeks with their massive new single.
The brilliant ‘Freaky Friday’ has debuted at Number 1 on the Top 40, bringing an end to ‘Promises’’ five-week reign and making history while doing so.
The independently-released track lands at the top of chart after racking up a massive 6.7 million streams in the past week, leaving him “speechless”.
“I’m speechless right now,” he toldOfficialCharts.com. “I just want to say thank you to everyone that’s helped us get this Number 1. I can’t even explain to you how grateful I am.”
Dave joins Drake as only the second artist to have a song debut at Number 1 in 2018, something which certainly doesn’t happen to everyone.
In addition to being the first number one single for both Dave and Fredo, this is being celebrated as a big moment for UK rap more generally.

‘Shallow’ is therefore Gaga’s first Top 10singlein five years, making this week even more special as the movie soundtrack hasdebutedat Number 1 on theOfficial Albums Chart.
