LukeIsNotSexy: From YouTuber To Movie Star?!

Luke Cutforth, aka YouTube’s LukeIsNotSexy, is switching from the small screen to the silver screen with his full length feature film debut, The Drowning of Arthur Braxton – and you could be in it too!

Well, not exactly…

Luke will be behind the camera, because he is actually directing the movie. That’s right, the flame-haired chap we know and love for classic videos such as ‘Luke’s Dating Rap’ and ‘I Want Boobies!’ as well as plenty of comedy couple clips with his girlfriend, Emma Blackery, is becoming a fully-fledged movie director, thanks to 4118 backers on Kickstarter.

The Drowning of Arthur Braxton is based on a book by Caroline Smailes, about a Victorian boy who runs away from school, hides out in a public bath house and meets a naked lady who changes his life forever…sounds intriguing!

Luke fell in love with this “dark and brooding modern fairy-tale of bullying, absent parents, self-harm, loss and, above all, love,” was determined to make it into his movie debut, and snapped up the film rights from Harper Collins after setting up a production company, Fireflight, with his friend Josh Winslade. He then cast 19-year-old actress Sophie Wright in one of the leading roles, and asked his supporters to help make the dream a reality by pledging on Kickstarter.

Over 4000 people snapped up rewards ranging from getting a mention in the movie credits, right up to being named an Executive Producer and attending the UK premiere with Luke and the cast. On September 2, the Kickstarter campaign actually exceeded its original target for fundraising, meaning that Luke and the crew can finally get on with making a movie!

What’s more, for the budding Emma Watsons and Daniel Radcliffes amongst you, according to the latest updates, open auditions for parts in The Drowning of Arthur Braxton will be held in London and Cheltenham in October/November, and Luke will also be accepting video auditions.

Keep a keen eye on @LukeIsNotSexy’s Twitter for the most up to date info, but in the meantime, he’s provided this helpful video to answer all your burning questions about the movie.
