Years & Years Named BBC's Music Sound Of 2015 Winner
Only yesterday we had a feeling in our waters and weresinging their praises from the mountaintops, but today we can confirm that Years & Years have been named winners of the BBC MusicSound Of 2015 list as the ones to watch this year.
Mikey, Olly and Emre, beat competition from the likes of BRITs Critics' Choice winner James Bay, Stormzy, Raury and George The Poet to claim the title.
On winning, the electronic triosaid:“We can't really get our heads round it, Olly nearly passed out when we found out, it was so surreal and emotional. It feels like it means we’ve got a real shot, which means the world to us. People are going to listen to what we’re going to do, and we’ve just got to not muck it up. We’ve got to make the most of it and deliver.”
Radio 1 DJ Huw Stephens said: “Years & Years have already and will continue to capture imaginations with their electronic melodies and lively on stage sets. They are a young band with loads of ideas and a clear vision of the music they want to make, and that will take them far this year.”
Over the past 12 months the band have been busy supporting the likes of Clean Bandit and Sound Of 2014 winner Sam Smith on tour and treating audiences up and down the countryto their awesome shows during last year's festival season.
Previous winners of the list have includedHAIM, Jessie J, Ellie Goulding, Adele and 50 Cent.
