6 Brand New Christmas Movies To Get Into This Year
It's that time of the year, everyone!
When the skies are dark at 3pm, you can eat whatever you want without judgment, everyone's counting down to the office christmas party and your bank balance is at an all-time low because you always get carried away playing Santa and can't say no to a festive night out?
Well, yes'but'also when you can sit in your pyjamas all day with a tub of Pringles and make your way through hours of Christmas classics like Home Alone, The Holiday, Elf and Love, Actually (don't forget Christmas With The Kranks!).
While the oldiesnever get boring, 2018 is blessing us with lots of new holiday entertainment, with Netflix releasing four (!) Christmas movies and two major titles making their way to the cinemas.
So, get your wish lists out and take note of what you need to watch this season...
The Nutcracker and the Four Realms
Attention! There's a new Disney blockbuster for the winter! Yes, that's right;if you've somehow missed all of the buzz surrounding it, The Nutcracker and the Four Realms is the brand new Disney fantasy unleashed upon us just in time for festive days out to the cinema. Starring Keira Knightley, Morgan Freeman and Helen Mirren (just to name a few), the magical tale looks utterly incredible and has an A-list cast that would even make the biggest Disney snob want to put down their coin to see it.
The Grinch
Dr. Seuss' legendary bookHow the Grinch Stole Christmas! takes on another form in the brand new animated adaptation. Voiced byBenedict Cumberbatch, The Grinch is narrated by Pharrell Williams (!) and is absolutely spectacular - and (obviously) utterly hilarious. The 2000 live action version starringJim Carrey will always have our heart but we'd be lying if we said we didn't absolutely love it.
The Holiday Calendar
The first of Netflix's four Christmas movies to be releasedthis year is The Holiday Calendar. The adorable rom-com is the perfect watch for a cosy night in, as Kat Graham's childhood friend returns home for the holiday period and they quickly realise that, as adults, things are a little different. That classic set-up'and'a magical antique advent calendar? Well, this is certainly not a predictable one, by any means.
The Princess Switch
Vanessa Hudgens, The Parent Trap, Christmas; what more could you want? The Princess Switch is basically The Parent Trap but one of them is a princess and it's all set in the winter snow. Love interests cross over, there's some Great British Bake Off vibes and honestly there's just a whole lot of greatness going on. This is one you'must'watch from November 16th.
The Christmas Chronicles
ATTENTION, EVERYONE: The creators of Home Alone are gifting us a brand new Christmas classic with The Christmas Chronicles. Kurt Russell plays Santa, who is hunted down by some curious siblings, and they run into some hilarious set-ups in the modern world of selfies and such. This is not one to miss, catch it from November 22nd.
A Christmas Prince: The Royal Wedding
Are you dying to know what happened to Amber and Prince Richard? Wait no more because A Christmas Prince: The Royal Wedding is coming to Netflix on November 30th. As you might guess from the title, they're getting married (!!) or at least someone is, as the trailer hasn't been released yet, but one can only assume.
Now get wrapped up and get ready for Christmas!
