Forget Keeping up with Kardashians, because keeping up with the ‘gram is the real challenge these days - and an expensive one, too.

Take 26-year-old Lisette Calverio, for example, who’s opened up about the expense that comes with trying to make it in the influencer world - admitting that she put herself $10,000 in debt by splashing out on travel and clothes… all with a view to getting that perfect, ‘gramworthy shot.

"I wasn't intending to be Instagram famous, but it was definitely influenced by what I was seeing on social media," Lisette told INSIDER.

"There are a lot of influencers who are always posting these luxury vacations in all these clothes, so I felt the pressure to want to emulate that as well. So a lot of my spending was just kind of lifestyle spending, eating out every day."

Speaking to the New York Post, Lisette also opened up about spending as much as $1,000 a month travelling to new locations to up her social media game.

"Snapchat had these [geo] filters [like digital passport stamps] and I wanted to collect at least 12," she said. "If you break it down, a lot of the travel I was doing in 2016 was strictly for Instagram."

Lisette says she’s sharing her story to try and shed some light on the serious cash that’s being spent behind the influencer scenes.

"Nobody talks about [his or her] finances on Instagram," she said. "It worries me how much I see girls care about image. I had a lot of opportunities to save. I could've invested that money in something."
