Because we are telling you right now, that the headline of this article is entirely reflective of exactly how bonkers, bizarre and downright brilliant the Walker Stalker Cruise actually was IRL.

For those non-The Walking Dead fans, here’s a little introduction… it is a show about a zombie apocalypse. It is insanely popular. So popular it has sparked a spin-off show all its own, and a legion of diehard fans chomping at the bit for all the undead realness they can get their hands on. Enter - shuffling obvs - stage left, the Walker Stalker convention, a fan-first celebration of all things zombie, horror and sci-fi that pops-up around 10 times a year, all over the globe.

So with the screams of a Season 6 The Walking Dead binge, a creepily ominous re-watch of [REC] 4: Apocalypse, and a constant repeat of The Lonely Island’s T-Pain collaboration playing in my ears, we started to get me into the ‘zombies on a boat’ mood.

Setting sail from Miami to Bahamas aboard the gargantuan Norwegian Pearl cruise liner, MTV hunkered down for three days of zombie-themed fun with a couple of star-studded interviews with the cast of The Walking Dead along the way.

From a cinema that exclusively played zombie classics (the triple bill of Shaun of the Dead, Dawn of the Dead (2004) and Zombieland), to zombie bar crawls, and undead bingo, there was more than enough to entertain below deck. But for those sunning themselves under the scorching sun of the perms-cloudless, blue Caribbean sky - a sunrise on-deck Thriller dance class tutorial was just the tip of the bonkers iceberg.

But really, it was all about the cast on-board. Norman Reedus (Darryl), Danai Gurira (Michonne), Emily Kinney (Beth), Chad L. Coleman (Tyreese), Christian Serratos (Rosita), Lawrence Gilliard Jr. (Bob), Ross Marquand (Aaron), Jose Pablo Castillo (Martinez), Michael Traynor (Nicholas) and Executive Producer Greg Nicotero were all there to sign autographs, take fan selfies, host Q&As and - in Emily Kinney’s case - serenade the boat with their new music.

The setting amplified the axiom well known to those of a nautical nature - loose lips didn’t quite sink ships, but they certainly gave it a more convivial, fan-pleasing atmosphere.

When Reedus and Nicotero’s nighttime panel was drawing to the end of its timeslot, Reedus called out to the crowd. “Let’s go another half an hour! We’re in the middle of the ocean - what else are we gonna do?!” True to his word, their 45 minute slot doubled, with fans throwing questions left, right and centre to the pair. And it led to some juicy fan-teasing reveals that only heightened anticipation for the return of the show on February 14th.

“[Season 6] Episode 9 is the biggest episode we’ve ever produced,” said Nicotero. “While I can’t say who will die, I will tell you the one character who definitely survives Episode 9. Darryl makes it out,” he revealed to huge cheers from the audience.

The days that followed consisted of as many laughs and cheers as zombie groans. The Walker Stalker’s inaugural sea-set convention was a huge success. The petition for the next one to be set on a spaceship starts here.
