Selena Gomez and The Weeknd (AKA Abel Tesfaye) have reportedly called time on their relationship after 10 months of dating. People Magazine broke the news of the split, with multiple sources confirming it to them.

The news comes after the Wolves singer was spotted hanging out with her ex Justin Bieber again, although it is reported that the former sweethearts are definitely not back together.

A source told People:“She and Abel have been going back and forth for a few months about their relationship. It’s been hard with him being on tour and her shooting in New York. That wasn’t easy on them."

While it seemed Selena always made the effort to head to The Weeknd'sshows whenever she could, the distance was apparently tough: "that played a part in them getting distant.It’s over for now, but they’re still in touch."

The couple went public with their relationship back in January, but it's the past few months that have apparently been difficult: "It’s been hard for them to come to the realization that this is the direction things were heading, but it’s been hard for months," added the insider.

The source insists that Selena is not back with Justin, who she dated from 2011 to 2015, althoughthe pair has been spotted together a few times recently, including at church.

It's been a particularly tough year for Selena, who underwent a kidney transplant over the summer following her battle with the auto-immune disease, lupus.

It's worth noting that neither Selena or The Weeknd have commented on the split themselves yet.
