The Riverdale actors are notoriously guarded about their personal life and have so far refused to comment on reports that they’re dating offscreen. Sure, they walked the 2018 Met Gala red-carpet together and have been spotted smooching all over the shop, but what does that actually 'mean'?

In honour of Cole and Dylan Sprouse’s 26th birthday, Lili took to the gram with an edgy shot of her man relaxing on a balcony with the message: "It seems as if the world would still be a stranger to me, if not for you. I’m so thankful that our paths intertwined to form this beautiful adventure. Happy birthday, my love."

That doesn’t mean we should expect any more gushing declarations of love, with the 21-year-old previously telling HarpersBazaar.com that she values her privacy: “I'm not okay talking about my relationship. I'm not going to tell you my love story. That's just not appropriate right now."

Meanwhile Cole told People that he considers the public interest in their romance a massive compliment about their acting skills: “I think that in many ways it’s offensive and an invasion of privacy, but it’s also a badge of honor.

“It means you’re creating a chemistry onscreen that is so understandable that people want to see it in real life, which is flattering from a professional perspective,” he added.
