This changes everything...

This year marks Super Mario’s 30th anniversary. And when you have such a long-running and iconic series as Nintendo does, somewhere along the way, fans will develop their own lore for their favourite characters.

And if you spend a lot of time looking up video game conspiracy theories on the internet (hey, we all need a hobby) you’ll know that there are some pretty outrageous ideas out there about Mario and co.

It turns out that some of them are even true!

Here, legendary Nintendo bosses Shigeru Miyamotoand Takashi Tezuka (who have between them created 'Mario, The Legend of Zelda, Star Fox 'and'Pikmin')debunk – and confirm – some of the craziest fan theories on the internet

We spoke to them in honour of Mario’s epic 30th anniversary, and to celebrate the launch of' Super Mario Maker:' the ground-breaking new game for Wii U which puts you in control of making, sharing and playing your very own Mario levels using features from the entire history of Super Mario Bros. games!
