The World’s Largest Indoor Ski Resort Will Have An Ice Hotel

Welcome to the future. It includes apres ski.

Choosing between a ski vacation or a city break is a dilemma no longer, thanks to the world’s largest indoor ski resort, coming to Shanghai, China.

The development - which is expected to be three times bigger than Ski Dubai, a similar resort built by the same company - will also include an ICE HOTEL. If anything has ever justified CapsLock, an ICE HOTEL might be it.

Spread over almost 1 million square feet, and complete with ski-in ski-out hotel rooms, apres ski and perfect skiing conditions 365 days a year, Wintastar will allow snow fans the chance to hit the slopes without even leaving the city, and it all sounds a bit like a futuristic film starring Will Smith or Tom Cruise.

According to developers, guests at Wintastar (even the name sounds vaguely dystopian) will apparently be treated to “world-class winter sport competitions, ice sculpture shows, several theatres showcasing a wide variety of theatrical shows, concerts and multi-dimensional cinematic displays”.

There’s no official opening date yet, but construction has started - and it’s thought they’ll be aiming to have it all ready to go by the 2022 Olympic Winter Games in Beijing. Which would be fairly fitting.

What a world we live in, hey?
