Vanessa Hudgens has opened up about dating Zac Efron during their High School Musical days and it turns out she still has a lot of fond memories from their time together.

In a recent interview with The Hollywood Reporter’s Awards Chatter, the 30-year-old said that their five year relationship had its ups and downs and that being on set could sometimes magnify their problems.

“I remember one time we did have a fight, and it was while we were at rehearsals,” she recalled. “I remember Kenny Ortega coming around the corner with the most concerned look on his face like, ‘Oh no, is our movie going to fall apart right now?’”

She continued: “I pride myself on being a professional, so I was like, that aside we are going to move forward and do what we need to do… and we sorted it all out.”

More than anything, Vanessa is just gratefulto have had someone in her life who knew exactly what she was going through: “It started off really organically. I could not have been more grateful to have that relationship at that time.

“We kind of blew up. It was this massive phenomenon all of a sudden and eyes were on me. And it’s just a really weird foreign thing to go through, and by being in a relationship, I feel it kind of kept me stabilized and grounded.”

Vanessa has been in a relationship with actor Austin Butler since around 2011, while Zac is said to be newly dating Danish Olympic swimmer Sarah Bro.
