Say hello to your new Charlie's Angels!

Elizabeth Banks’ big-screen reboot of Charlie’s Angels just found itself some leading ladies, with Kristen Stewart, Naomi Scott and Ella Balinska signing on to star as the titular trio.

Stewart is obviously a household name, but for those unfamiliar with her co-stars, Scottis set to star in Disney’s upcoming Aladdin remake, while Balinska is a relative unknown, having largely appeared in UK telly like Midsomer Murders.

The new movie will follow a “new generation” of Angels working for off-screen mystery man Charlie Townsend. According to the synopsis, their security and intelligence services have “gone global”, with the aforementioned trio just one of many groups of Angels available for private hire.

What we’re not massively clear on is how this one will play out tonally. The Cameron Diaz-starring movies kept things pretty bright and breezy, and Elizabeth Banks’ background is largely in comedy, but the plot synopsis doesn’t give much away as to whether this one will be played for laughs or not. We’ll find out for sure when the film hits screens on 27 September 2019.
