Hugh Jackman Confirms He's Hanging Up His Wolverine Claws For Good. Sob.

Say it isn't so...

Hugh Jackman has revealed he's saying goodbye to Wolverine and hanging up his claws after he finishes working on the third instalment of the franchise.

The X-Men hottie confirmed on The Dr Oz Show that he will officially retire from the role in 2017, after the release of Wolverine 3.

"It is my last time," he said. "It felt like it was the right time to do it. And let's be honest, 17 years. I never thought in a million years it would last, so I'm so grateful to the fans for the opportunity of playing it.

"I kind of have in my head what we're going to do in this last one. It just feels like this is the perfect way to go out," he added.

Just last month Hugh hinted at the news, uploading the above pic to Instagram somewhat preparing fans for his departure!

The third solo film will also star Patrick Stewart, and is due for release on March 3, 2017.

We're not going to lie, the thought of never seeing Hugh Jackman in a white vest again does make us weep.
