For a lot of girls, having longRapunzel-inspired hair is a bit of a comfort blanket, but even if you're super attached to those luxurious locks that you've been growing since birth, there are days (especially in the summer) when you just wanna chop it all off. 2007 Britney Spears style, preferably.

That might sound a little bit drastic, but according to some of the biggest celebs in showbizland right now, a shaved head is the only way to go - and a huge statement, too.

It's an important reminder thata woman's beauty or worth is definitely not measured by the length of her hair.

A-listers likeCara Delevingne, Katy Perry and Kristen Stewart have allsteppedout recently with badass babe buzz cuts, and even if you're not QUITE brave enough to go for it yourself, it'll definitely make you contemplate it for 0.1 seconds.

Cara Delevingne

Agh, woah and double wow - Cara Delevingne looked almost unrecognisable earlier this month when she debuted her extremely close shave at the Met Gala.

Her new look is actually for a movie role, but she later took to Instagram to admit that getting rid of her long hair had been a liberating experience.

“It’s exhausting to be told what beauty should look like," she wrote.“I am tired of society defining beauty for us. Strip away the clothes, wipe off the make up, cut off the hair."

Kristen Stewart

K-Stew's always mixing up her look, but she revealed in a recent interview with Today, she revealed that it's actually a pretty sensible move for her latest role.

"I'm doing a movie in a couple of weeks called 'Underwater,' and I play a mechanical engineer that's working in an oil rig that's on the bottom of the ocean floor," she spilled.

"So for me, I was like, 'It's practical! I mean, I'm not going to be able to have touch-ups once I put the helmet on. I must shave my head!'"

A little while back, Halsey went from turquoise mermaid hair to shaved head in one fell swoop, and explained to Nylon that it was an incredibly important statement for her to make.

"Hair has also been a big indicator of racial issues in my life," Halsey, who is biracial, told themag.

"It’s one of the ultimate symbolic struggles for women of color. Shaving my head was important to me because I needed to be able to prove that I could still love myself if I did it."

Karen Gillan

Karen is another actress who's super dedicated to her trade, getting rid of her signature ginger to become Nebula in Guardians of the Galaxy.

"It was a really weird experience, but it was also weirdly liberating," she told Lorraine."And fun and interesting as a social experiment just to see how differently people treated me."

Natalie Portman

When you think 'Celebs Who've Shaved Their Heads', Natalie Portman probably comes to mind almost instantly, as she looked all kinds of amazing with zero hair back in 2005 for V For Vendetta.

Obviously, it does help a bit when you have a face as beautiful as all of this lot.

A shaved head is the staple part of Amber's signature look now. It's actually kind of strange to see her rocking anything any longer than a buzz cut.

"I think that I'd definitely seen Sinead O'Connor's 'Nothing Compares 2 U' video," Amber told Refinery29. "And I grew up in Philly... Eve was really popular, and my friends said, 'Please don't do it, Amber, you're gonna look crazy.'

"And, of course, me being me, I rebelled against everyone and went straight down the middle at a barber shop. Fourteen years later, I still have it."

Amandla's bold change in style was an important part of a heavy acting role.

She explained on Instagram: "I just finished working on a film calledWhere Hands Touch... The story is about the experience of biracial children growing up in Nazi Germany. I shaved my head for the role. Feels really good. I feel so aerodynamic now."

Way back in 2013 (yep, it was actually that long ago), Jessie J became a total hero when she shaved her head on live television for Comic Relief.

Her new look raised half a million pounts for the charity. At the time, she said:"It's the weirdest feeling. It feels so liberating. But this isn't about this (gesturing to her head), it's about donating."

Lupita's a pro at the whole head shaving thing, having first picked up the razor when she was 19 years old.

Recalling the decision, she told Redbook:"It wasn't on a whim—I spent days thinking about it first. Once I did it, it was very liberating, but I also felt very naked.

"When you feel the wind on your scalp, it's like,Oh, my God. But I've kept my hair short ever since."

Charlize Theron

The world has become completely used to Charlize arriving on red carpets with the beachy blonde hair of dreams, which is why it was such a shock when she decided to ditch the whole lot for her part in Mad Max: Fury Road.

"I just had this moment where I was like, 'I need to shave my head! I can't think about what I'm going to do with my hair in this movie.

"I'm going to be in the desert. I'm a new mother. Let's just shave it.' The next day we did it. I can't even imagine doing it any other way," she toldEntertainment Tonight.

Natalie Dormer

Natalie said goodbye to half a head of hair when she signed up to play Cressida in The Hunter Games, but as a major fangirl of the series, she said the whole thing was totally worth it.

“I was willing to shave off all my hair. I didn’t have to in the end, I only needed to do half but I would have done the whole [because] I wanted to be part of The Hunger Games so badly,” she said at the premiere.

“When the razor came out – it was a little bit of a moment. It’s quite liberating, I would recommend it to women.”

She was actually pretty excited to undergo the makeover - but rumour has it that Season 2 will see her rocking 80s inspired curls instead. AGH.
