Love Island's Megan Barton Hanson Has Zero Time For The ‘Vilification' Of Women’
Love Island babe Megan Barton Hanson has been pretty candid about her past working as a stripper, and has even opened up about her insecurities surrounding her paston the hitshow.
But in a recent Instagram post, the Islander is drawing attention to how society and the media has a tendency to vilify women who don’t stick to traditional societalnorms. And it’s actually pretty damn great.
The post comes after Megan cancelled all of her personal appearancesciting “personal reasons”, and folk as per, began to speculate why.
“Today I really feel that I need to address some of the stories out there about me on behalf of women in general," she said.
“I support all women, regardless of the choices they make about what they do with their bodies. My dad always told me unless you’ve walked in someone’s shoes then don't judge them.
“It’s 2018 and it’s time we stopped allowing the vilification of women in the media. Thank you to all of the amazing women that have and continue to follow my journey.
“Your messages of support mean so much to me. I won’t allow stories like these to stop me from be a free thinking, confident, independent young woman striving to make a better life for myself and my family.”
And the need for such a post? Just read the comments Megan received. She’s got some real harsh trolls telling her that her own personal choices, in regards to her body, are wrong.
How anyone chooses to make their own coin, is their business. How anyone chooses to use 'their' body is 'their 'business.
If Megan’s gender was switched, would she be receiving the level of slut-shaming slurs she currently is?
We need to rip up, shred and burn the stereotype that women should be told how to present themselves, and what they can and can’t do.
This is 2018. We should be lifting each other up, not tearing others down.
