10 Things You Need To Know About Lip Sync Battle

As new channel Spike launches in the UK, we check out one of its most popular shows…

You’ve probably caught a Lip Sync Battle or two on YouTube, what with Anne Hathaway’s take on Miley Cyrus’ ‘Wrecking Ball’going viral, and a clip of Justin Bieber as Ozzy Osbournesurfacing online. However, now that new TV channel Spike is launching in the UK, you’ll actually be able to watch the whole series!

Kicking off on Wednesday 15th April at 9.30pm, Lip Sync Battle is not to be missed, but before you tune in here are 10 things you need to know about the show. WARNING: MAY CONTAIN SPOILERS!

1.Lip Sync Battle is hosted by LL Cool J and model Chrissy Teigen. It’s already sounding hot, right?

2. It was born after actor John Krasinski and writer Stephen Merchant introduced the idea of battles on The Tonight Show. Host Jimmy Fallon liked the concept so much it become a recurring feature, before being picked up by Spike, as a full 30-minute TV show.

3. A one-minute clip of Anne Hathaway’s Lip Sync Battle has had over 13 million views in the nine days since it was posted to YouTube. It’s THAT good.

4. Anna Kendrick enlisted the help of J-Lo for her battle against John Krasinski. We’re expecting her to join the Barden Bellas any day now.

5. The show has already featured a healthy dose of sibling rivalry thanks to Julianne and Derek Hough.

6. Chrissy Teigen was hospitalised during the filming of husband John Legend's episode of Lip Sync Battle, after cracking a bone in her foot. Ouch!

9. LL Cool J was surprised by Lip Sync Battle's massive success in the US, telling NY Daily News, "It’s insane. You never know what’s gonna hit.”
