Lady Gaga Crowned The First Honorary Miss Gay America
Lady Gaga has been a very prominent ally of the LGBTQ+ community ever since she first emerged on the pop scene back in 2008.
From rallying againstAmerica's Don't Ask, Don't Tell law alongside President Barack Obama in 2010 to challenging Russia's anti-LGBT environment during concerts, she has been one of the most vocal public figures in support of equality for the community and becomean LGBTQ+ icon.
To recognise her support and commitment, the Miss Gay America pageant has made her the first ever honorary Miss Gay America.
The pageant owner Michael Dutzer announced the news by sharing an image of him presenting the 'Born This Way' singer with her honorary crown earlier this month.
"We loveGagafor all she’s done for the LGBTQcommunity, especially our youth,so we thought this would be a great way to honor her for championing self-acceptance, diversity and the beauty in everyone’s mirror," he wrote.
Gaga's 2011 hit'Born This Way' is the prime example of her vocal support and love for minoritiesincluding the LGBTQ+ community, the first Number 1 song in history to include the word "transgendered" and an anthem she has performed around the world to empower everyone.
The 'Joanne World Tour'is Gaga's latest liveextravaganza to hit the road, however the European leg was recently postponed to allow Gaga to recoverfrom chronic pain, which is documented in her new Netflix film'Gaga: Five Foot Two'.
We love you, Gaga!
