Brand New Kesha Single 'Praying' Has Landed
KESHA IS BACK!
Yes - that's right. This is not a lie. This is actually hapenning.
Four years since the release of her last albumsingle, 'Crazy Kids (feat. will.i.am)', Kesha is finally ready to release new music.
The 'Love Is My Drug' singer'sbrand new single 'Praying' is out NOW and we couldn't be more excited.
Kesha took to social media to announce the good news- firstsharing an array of rainbow filled imagery on her Instagram titled 'the beginning', before releasing a short video of herself revealing all of the important/essential information about 'Praying'.
In the video Kesha takes the time to personally thank her fans. She opens it by honouring them and saying:"Animals! I have a surprise for you. Your support and love and kindess hasgotten me through hands downthe hardest time of my entirelife."
She then closes it by giving us the name of the single and declaring her love for those who have supported her: "My new song 'Praying' is coming out tomorrow and I couldn't have done this without you. I f***ing love you." What an incredible woman.
Kesha released'Praying' todayand accompanied its release with its very own Lenny Letter.
In the letter, the 'C'Mon' star discusses what the song means to her, the difficulties that she's faced in the past few years and where she is now in her life."I've found what I had thought was an unobtainable place of peace. This song is about coming to feel empathy for someone else even if they hurt you or scare you. It's a song about learning to be proud of the person you are even during low moments when you feel alone. It's also about hoping everyone, even someone who hurt you, can heal."
The single itself is a defiant, rousing ballad with minimal production in which the singer lets her voice trulyshine.
Lyrically it sees her tackle her demons and directly address her history with Dr. Luke.
"Well, you almost had me fooled/ Told me that I was nothing without you"
And perhaps most powerfully: "No more monsters I can breatheagain".
"When I'm finished they won't even know your name."
'Praying' marks an important turn in the 'Die Young' hitmaker's career. It's her firstsolo single since taking Dr. Luke to court.
In 2013 Kesha accused Dr. Luke of sexual harassment and emotional abuse andfiled a lawsuit against him. Dr. Luke had worked with Kesha as her manager and producer for 10 years. She also sought a primary injuction in 2014 to be released fromhis label Kemosabe records, a subsidary of Sony Music. All of her claims against Dr. Luke were denied in court.
However, in March 2017 Dr. Luke was released from his contract and is no longer the CEO of Kemosabe records.
Whileeverything is not clear at the moment, it seems that Kesha is still under her contract with Kemosabe records but that Dr. Luke no longer has any rights over her career. SoKesha is finally able to release music free from his involvement.
'Praying' is out now and its album'Rainbow' follows on August 11th.
WELCOME BACK KESHA!
