Justin Bieber’s recent Instagram blitz, in which he posted photos of him with his rumoured new girlfriend Sofia Richie, caused quite a stir amongst his fans.

A tidal wave of snake emojis and general rudeness sparked the singer to leave a comment of his own, warning fans that he would make his account private unless they stopped the hate.

It did not go unnoticed by his ex Selena Gomez, and things escalated. Quickly.

Selena waded in all Pink Lady Emoji, saying that if Justin had issues with his fans’ reactions, he should keep his relationship private, and that he shouldn’t be mad at his fans because they love him and supported him before anyone else did.

Even SASSIER, she went on to post a joyous collage to her own Instagram, with a caption that read “My whole life. You matter most. Thank you for letting me do what I love every day.”

AND THEN, Justin actually replied to Selena, posting a riposte that was somehow both snarky 'and' zen.

AND THEN AND THEN, Selena responded to that comment, calling out Justin for cheating on her when they were together. At least people are saying she did and there is a screengrab doing the rounds.

We're not sure if it's real though as people are always jumping on an Instagram spat with made up comments, so you might want to take it with a ginormous pinch of salt. Here it is, so make up your own mind on this...
