A Track-By-Track Guide To Justin Bieber's Purpose
The day has finally arrived. The wait is over. PURPOSE IS HERE! This album release is the next step on Bieber's world take-over and we're completely on board.
Purpose is a true comeback album, so we thought we would break it down and give you a track-by-track guide. Warning: we might get a littlebit emotional.
'Mark My Words'
This intro is for all the people that have doubted Bieber. His emotional vocals tell listeners to 'mark my words', and that's all he has. Bieber lays everything on the tablethrough a steady, minimal build up to the next track.
'I'll Show You'
This is another one for all of youthat have disregarded Bieber as a serious recording artist. Throughout Purpose he'll show you all that he's not one to mess with.
'What Do You Mean?'
The song that changed it all and marked the start of Bieber's momentous come back. The video in itself shows how much he has grown up. It's a classic in the Bieber back-catalogue now, and will always be fondly in our memories after his tearful VMA performance.
'Sorry'
The. Best. Song. On. Purpose. Fact. It is virtually impossible not to dance to 'Sorry', and if you don't then there is something seriously wrong with you. We all want to be as cool as the girls in the video and when we're alone in our bedrooms we definitely don't try and copy their moves...
'Love Yourself'
Despite being one of the most minimal tracks on the album, we felt ALL THE FEELS when we first heard 'Love Yourself'. With it's typical Ed Sheeran vibe (they co-wrote the song), it's just Bieber and a very simple guitar riff which is basically perfection, a solid 10/10.
'Company'
WE WANT YOU TO KEEP US COMPANY BIEBER! This song makes us completely swoon. With it's slick r'n'b vibe, this is an easy-listening track oozing with coolness.
'No Pressure (Ft. Big Sean)'
Continuing the r'n'b vibe, this part of the album would be the best time to go and make a cup of tea - or perhaps they're growers rather than showers overshadowed by the greatness of 'Sorry' and 'Love Yourself'.
'No Sense (Ft. Travis Scott)'
This is the type of track that Bieber wouldn't have recorded five years ago. It's badass and obviously Travis Scott's verse adds a whole new element to the track. Put it this way, he's come a long way since 'Beauty And A Beat'...
'The Feeling (Ft. Halsey)'
If you don't know Halsey. Get to know her. She will be dominating the music scene in 2016 and Bieber has given her the perfect platform to showcase her vocal talent. She's also insanely cool and this song is a total ear-worm.
'Life Is Worth Living'
AHH, A PIANO BALLAD! We are literally weeping. In the words of Bieber, you make our life worth living.
'Where Are Ü Now (Ft. Skrillex & Diplo)'
This was the song that made people start to question their feelings towards Bieber. Teaming up with Skrillex and Diplo upped his cool factor ten-fold and we're still obsessed with this song.
'Children'
Skrillex has made his mark on this song, you can tell his drops a mile off. What begins as Bieber's version of Michael Jackson's 'Earth Song' - 'what about the children?' - soon turns into an EDM banger.
'Purpose'
Okay, so Bieber has just slayed us with this song. RIP us and everyone who has a heart. The title track is a real look into Bieber's past, he literally lays everything he has bare. It's honest. It's raw and we're still sobbing over the spoken word part at the end.
'Been You'
To lift us back up from the emotional wreck 'Purpose' has put us in, 'Been You' is a great dance song, just the pick-me-up we need after being emotionally drained. Every time Bieber says 'it could have been you', we imagine he's talking directly to us.
'Get Used To It'
This track sort of blended in with the previous one, another great pop song. Bieber has mastered the EDM/pop vibe on this album and there are so many we will have on repeat when we're getting ready for a night out.
'We Are (Ft. Nas)'
Only Bieber could get one of the biggest names in Hip-Hop to casually feature on his record - it's only Nas, no biggie.
'Trust'
That high note at the start… We can't cope. 'Trust' has a slow, sexy beat running throughout, it's brooding and pretty magical really, especially with the piano keys tinkling in the background.
'All In It'
"Don't do nothing unless you're heart's in it." - the opening lyric sums up how much heart has been put into the record by Bieber himself. This album is as much for him and his growth as it is for the fans.
'What Do You Mean? - Acoustic'
We're not sure how 'What Do You Mean?' could get any better, well Bieber's answered our question with this acoustic version that is simply PERFECTION.
