These Are The Best Video Games Of 2014
2014 was a pretty massive year for video games. Not only did the next generation of consoles really start to kick into gear, but the Wii U finally started to prove its worth.
So join us as we run through the best games from the last 12 months. WARNING: WILL MAKE YOU WANT TO BUY ALL THE CONSOLES.
Game of Thrones
Take one of the hottest game developers of the moment (and one notably great with adapting franchises), take the best show on TV, and unsurprisingly you get a pretty darn ace point and click, story-driven game for fans and newbies alike.
Alien Isolation
Sure, it has its technical niggles. Yes, it's sometimes unbearably hard.
But finally, FINALLY someone made an Alien game as terrifying as the movies.
*applauds whilst crying in the corner*
Mario Kart 8
Not only was it the first 'must buy' game for Nintendo's under-performing console, but it was the best Mario Kart for yonks.
Bayonetta 2
Nintendo has never really been known for its adult content. So the move from Xbox to Wii U for the most bonkers, innuendo-laden and weirdly hyper-violent action series Bayonetta was a curious one.
But on Wii U, Bayonetta 2 absolutely sings. Everything fans loved about the first one - the OTT action, the shall we say 'interesting' sexual gags, the amazingly colourful soundtrack - is back and crazier than ever.
A must for action fans.
Grand Theft Auto V (PS4/Xbox One)
We know, we know. Technically Grand Theft Auto V came out in 2013. But unlike most tiresome next-gen ‘upgrades’ (read: cash-ins), the PS4 and Xbox One versions made an already great game all but perfect.
Not only did everything look a darn sight purtier, but it game bolstered with a literally game-changing first person mode. Having digital prostitute sex, illegal car races and blowing up the Feds has never looked so good.
