Still bummed about Fortnite's recent unscheduled outage? You're not the only one. But to make it up to you, Epic Games have released its latest update, which includes a couple of freebies as well as the usual tweaks, fixes, and bug squishes.

As an apology, Epic is offering 20 Battle Pass Stars in Battle Royale mode, and 1600 Seasonal Gold for Save the World to everyone affected by the downtime. But that's not all.

"This weeks v3.5 Content Update introduces a powerful new weapon to Battle Royale and a new questline to explore in Save the World," writes the Fortnite team on the latest blog. "50v50 is BACK and bigger than before. Two teams, two buses, one Victory Royale. PLAY NOW!"

There's also an all-new Light Machine Gun coming in Battle Royale. It holds 100 rounds and is super fast to fire, "to keep squads pinned down from a distance". You'll be able to give it a try in the new limited-time mode, 50v50 V2 - although its release was delayed owing to last week's unplanned downtime, it's finally here.

There's also the new Save the World mode, Into the Storm: Encore, where you can "venture into the storm with Lars, great treasures and dangers await. Overcome these challenges and unlock your choice of one of the new Cyberpunk Heroes". In the same mode there's also a new Light Machine Gun Neon Weapon, which promises "enough firepower to annihilate an entire wave of Husks!" Find it in the Event Store now.
