26 Incredible Things Emma Watson Has Achieved At 26

Emma is SLAYING life.

Today is a very special day, it’s Emma Watson’s Birthday. At just 26 Emma has achieved more in the worlds of acting, modelling and the small task of bringing gender equality to the world than anyone could have ever predicted when she graced our screens, fresh-faced as Hermione all those years ago. Let’s take a look at 26 incredible things she’s achieved in her 26 years on this earth, shall we?

1. She landed the role of Hermione with NO professional experience

Emma landed possibly the biggest movie role in the world off the back of a few school plays. Not too shabby. She had to do eight screen tests, but JK Rowling has said she knew Emma was the one from the very first.

2. She managed to get eight A*s during filming

And two As…even though most of her education was between takes.

3. And BA in English Literature from Brown University

It took her five years instead of four but considering she also made eight Harry Potter films over the course of her education, this is pretty darn impressive!

4. She’s also a certified yoga and meditation teacher

As a part of the course she had to take a week-long trip to a Canadian facility where she wasn’t allowed to talk the whole time so she could “figure out how to be at home with [her]self”. We’re basically just waiting for her to put out a “Yoga With Emma” fitness DVD.

5. AND she speaks French

Emma was born in Paris and brought up in Oxfordshire but still learned the lingo, although she confessed that she speaks "not as well" as she used to these days, fair play, she’s been quite busy.

6. She has her own fair trade fashion line

Emma worked as creative advisor with People Tree on the range and tried on every single item in the collection. She said, “It was an incredible and life-changing experience - I really wish everyone had the chance to see the difference Fair Trade makes with their own eyes”.

7. And she’s been the face of a whole bunch of others

Beginning with Teen Vogue at just 15 (youngest star ever on the cover btw), Emma’s modelling career has seen her as the face of Burberry, Chanel, Lancôme and LOADS more.

8. She may have helped make the Harry Potter soundtrack too

Her IMDBpage lists her as a “performer” on one of the songs for The Deathly Hallows but she wasn’t credited. She has been known to play the piano and sing though so she’s either being really humble or doesn’t want anyone to know that she’s a secret musician. Or both, we think it’s both.

9. Plus, she’s starred in a music video

They say you can't be a bonafide movie star unless you've been the lead in a music video (see Robert Downey Jr., Christopher Walken, Angelina Jolie and many, many more for proof) and in 2010 Watson starred opposite rumoured boyf George Craig in indie band One Night Only's video

10. She’s campaigned for better education for women all over the world

Emma’s been to Bangladesh, Zambia and all over campaigning to make sure women around the world have access to education.

11. She’s the UN Goodwill Ambassador

Her campaigning caught the eye of the UN and they appointed her as their Goodwill Ambassador to promote women’s rights around the world.

12. She’s also an Ambassador for Camfed International

Because being one global ambassador just isn’t enough for Emma, Camfed International campaign for education for women in rural Africa.

13. She’s launched her own campaign, HeForShe

With Emma at the helm, the UN launched HeForShe in 2014, a campaign that aims to unite both men and women in the fight for gender equality. She gave an awesome, empowering speech on the campaign saying, “we are struggling for a uniting word but the good news is we have a uniting movement. It is called HeForShe. I am inviting you to step forward, to be seen to speak up, to be the "he" for "she". And to ask yourself if not me, who? If not now, when?”

14. And reminded everyone why we need the word “feminism”

She defied advisors who told her not to use the world feminism in her HeForShe speech and instead encouraged us all to use it explaining that it means simply, “The belief that men and women should have equal rights and opportunities. It is the theory of the political, economic and social equality of the sexes” and that, “it is not the word that is important but the idea and the ambition behind it.”

15.It got EVERYONE on board

There was an outpouring of support for HeForShe online following the launch, with the likes of Tom Hiddleston, Joseph Gordon-Levitt, Ellie Goulding and heaps more getting behind Emma and her team.

16. She has another campaign focused on gender parity in business

Last year HeForShe launched another awesome campaign, IMPACT 10x10x10 which is working with big business to bring gender balance across their employees

17. EVERYONE is on board with that too

With the likes of Barclays, Vodafone and Twitter on board, IMPACT 10x10x10 is already making great strides to ensure that women are fairly represented in the working world.

18. She’s influenced Malala, the most influential person ever

Following Emma’s UN speech, Malala told Emma she’d decided to start calling herself a feminist.

19. She’s the role model Taylor Swift always dreamed of

In 2014, Tay-Tay confessed that she wishes Emma had been around when she was younger saying, “then I would have proudly claimed I was a feminist because I would have understood what the word means.”

20. She was officially named the “most outstanding woman in the world”

Yep, AskMen confirmed it last year crowning her top of their list of 99 Outstanding Women. NBD.

21. She’s also one of TIME’s most influential people in the world

This time last year Emma placed at 26 on TIMES ‘World’s Most Influential People’ list. Seriously, NBD.

22. Not to mention GQ’s Woman of the Year

At the tender age of only twenty-three, Emma Watson received manly mag GQ's Award for Woman Of The Year. The accolade did nothing to change her ever-humble attitude, something she credits to her best friend who every single time she trips, stumbles or speaks out of turn, likes to incredulously remind her "well, you are the Woman Of The Year".

23. She has her own feminist book club

The club, called Our Shared Shelf, focuses on learning about feminism and posts loads of awesome books about equality. Hosted by Goodreads, Emma choses a new book every month to be discussed online among the 100,000 or so readers already signed up. She explained, “There is so much amazing stuff out there! Funny, inspiring, sad, thought-provoking, empowering! …I want to share what I’m learning and hear your thoughts too.” It’s fully amazing, go sign up!

24. She’s won a TON of awards

From our very own special “Trailblazer” MTV Movie Award, to Teen Choice Awards to People’s Choice Awards, you name it, she’s won it.

25. She’s been a bunch of awesome films since Potter

Emma’s so much more than Hermione in her film career (although let’s be honest, Hermione would be more than enough). She’s since landed all kinds of amazing roles from her upcoming part in Colonia which tells the tale of the Chilean military coup in 1973, to her enchanting performance as Sam in The Perks Of Being A Wallflower

26. She’s got her own waxwork

Everyone knows, you haven’t truly made it until you’ve got a waxwork. Who’s up for a trip to get a selfie with wax Watson?

Not bad for 26 amiright!? HAPPY BIRTHDAY EMMA, may you continue to slay in all walks of life for many years to come.
