Marina beat Tinie Tempah, Rox, Delphic and Ellie Goulding in a public vote to take the award.

But to win the big prize she’ll have to face off against some of the continent's best acts including France’s Pony Pony Run Run, Hungary’s The Kolin and Portugal’s Nu Soul Family.

Names more familiar to Brits include Swedish House Mafia - competing logically for Sweden - and Spain’s Enrique Iglesias.

Linkin Park, Katy Perry and Plan B are among acts confirmed to perform at the EMAs, with Eva Longoria set to present.
