Here’s Everything You Can Expect From Drake’s The Assassination Vacation Tour

You had us at flying Ferrari.

Drake’s officially back on the road hot off the release of his latest mixtape ‘So Far Gone’, with ‘The Assassination Vacation Tour’ kicking off in Manchester Arena last night.

We headed down to check out what this new era is going to bring us and from a flying car to special guests, insane visuals to chances for audience members to win up to £20,000... it’s safe to say it’s a tour like no other.

Here’s what went down on Drake’s ‘The Assassination Vacation Tour’ in Manchester:

A Flying Ferrari And Insane Visuals

Drake is not afraid to go all out for his shows. Flying a car around his audience may just be the coolest experience Drake can give his fans, but the replica of his $3.5 million Ferrari hovering over the audience was just the beginning of what Drake had in store.

Laying his stage in the centre of the arena, no matter where you were sitting, he made it certain that you’d have a great view - especially for seeing his amazing visuals which were not hard to miss (because they actually take over the whole stage floor).

From swimming pools during ‘Hotline Bling’, to a phone scrolling on Instagram during ‘In My Feelings’, to waterfalls, clouds, and much more, it seems Drake has pulled his visuals straight out of an aesthetically pleasing Tumblr blog, and we are obsessed with it. Oh, and look out for the flying lights that follow Drake around on stage like mini fireflies.

A lot Of Jumping (especially to 'Jumpman')

How does he do it? His stage presence during the show is nothing short of pure eccentric talent. Commanding attention from an arena full of 21,000 people is sure to be a task, but for Drake it seems to come naturally. Running around the stage like it’s a basketball court (which it later does become), the singer is sure to keep you jumping (and moshing, if that’s your thing), the whole way through his show.

Drake Staring Into Your Soul

If you’re on the floor, be sure to prepare your fragile heart for Drake staring directly into your soul. Constantly making sure he was keeping the concert as intimate as possible, the rapper gave many shout outs to his "people on the floor", standing and dancing the whole way through, and made sure to get as up close and personal with them as he could. The light at the end of the tunnel might just be Drake staring down at you with a huge spotlight shining behind him, guys.

A Chance To Win £20,000 If You Can Shoot A Hoop

If you’re a basketball player, here’s your chance to win some cash and seriously impress Drake.

Starting the cash prize at £250 and rising all the way up to £20,000, an audience member was given the chance to shoot a hoop and score a grand cash prize - but it didn’t quite work out (we think we’d crash under the pressure too, dude). So here’s a PSA to get practising if you want to be walking out the arena £20,000 richer and a winner in Drake’s eyes. But don't fret, even if you miss you’ll be leaving with some free Drizzy merch.

Dave And Fredo Made An Appearance - Can We Expect More Special Guests?

After appearing at Fredo’s gig along with Dave the night before, Drake brought out the duo to sing ‘Funky Friday’ by surprise, and the crowd went wild. After the release of Dave’s latest album ‘PSYCHODRAMA’last Friday, there couldn’t have been a better time for him to be brought on stage to perform his UK Number 1 hit single along with Fredo on the big stage. Maybe more special acts will follow in their footsteps and step out to surprise fans?

Throwbacks And The Latest Chart Bangers

Drake’s taking you on a journey through his whole catalogue on this tour. Performing songs for his "day one fans" that go back to 10 years ago (in celebration of 10 years in music), back when he first started his career, all the way to now and his most recent bangers that have been dominating the charts - it’s an experience for Drake fans that have been around for a long time or who have just joined the ride.

You should also look out for a video full of throwbacks that plays, including clips of him in the studio working on some of his earliest work, to drinking out of his GRAMMY, to behind-the-scenes vids of him with Nicki Minaj and Rihanna… it’s a whole insight into how far he’s come, and the success he’s achieved along the way.

FIY-AH. Like, Actual Fire

We don’t want to know how much the budgeting team had to put behind his pyrotechnics, but let’s just say it must have been a pretty big cheque. With fire bursting up at all the right moments, fireworks igniting on all the huge beat drops, and smoke machines exploding throughout, it was a concert that truly brought the heat(we can only imagine how much the people in the front row were sweating...)

Running Through The 6 With Six Amazing Female Dancers

Drake’s got an all-female line-up of dancers on this tour and they’re phenomenally talented. From performances of the infamous ‘In My Feelings’ dance under their own style, to flips and drops into some pretty impressive splits, to insanely coordinated choreography - some even in heels - these girls are on fi-yah, and Drake really does only hire the best on his team.

He takes the time to utilise the platform he’s been given

Drake / The Assassination Vacation Tour

Before performing 'God’s Plan', Drake announced: “If they ever try to stop you from doing what you love in this lifetime, then sing this sh*t.” Telling his audience throughout the concert to take a moment to appreciate their family, friends, and others in their life, Drake is proving yet again he’s someone thatclearly wants to use the huge platform he’s built to create good and make a difference.

Ending the concert, he told fans what his favourite part of the show is: “That I get to look around in this day and age and see so many people from all races, from all places, in here having ourselves a good motherf*cking time.

“No matter what’s going on in the world I want you to understand something, I want you to understand that this right here, in this building tonight in Manchester, is how the world is supposed to work we’ve got to spread love and I’m proud of y’all tonight.”

It’s refreshing to see an artist want to not only give their fans an amazing show, but something to take away from it that’s not just merch too.

The Donning of An Exclusive Louis Vuitton Vest

It’s no secret that Drake and the artistic director of Louis Vuitton menswear collection, Virgil Abloh, are good friends. So we can only assume it was he who hooked Drake up with the coolest fit for tour including a super trendy Louis Vuitton vest.
