Yesterday we literally made dreams come true as our January Cover Of The Month winner Sam Tompkins, came face-to-face with the very star he covered, Bebe Rexha.

Celebrating the Cover Of The Month competition at YouTube Space London, Sam and a bunch of talented young influencers tried out the facilities for the day and attended sessions led by music industry professionals, including Rexha herself.

Throughout January we challenged musicians around the globe to upload their take on Bebe’s latest single ‘I Got You’, before the singer-songwriter herself picked out the winner.

On hearing he’d won, Sam said: “I'm still trying to get over it … it's crazy. It’s so weird, I had literally no idea. I did it just for fun and then I’ve come out and won - it's really surreal. It's a really surreal experience.”

Bebe also told us why she picked his out of all the entries we received: “I think I love the fact that he made the cover his own and it wasn't just copying me exact and making the exact beat and the exact groove.

“He changed up the groove and he sang it in his own way and I really appreciate that because I feel like he put his stamp on it.”

Bebe also praised this all of this month’s entrants saying: “They're incredible, they've covered the song and I feel so flattered. I remember starting out and covering songs. I told them that I covered Drake's 'Hold On, We're Going Home' and now I'm here, and they're covering my songs, I'm like, 'Wait, this is awesome!'."
