Charlotte Crosby’s Comments About Love Island’s Dr Alex Started A Twitter War
If there’s anyone who has experienced their fair share of social media abuse it’s Charlotte Crosby, yet the Geordie star had everyone pointing fingers at her last night.
Charlotte was doing what we all do these days and spending her Friday night live-tweeting Love Island, when a few choice words she had about Dr Alex George caused an unexpected storm.
Everyone from Alex’s family to last year’s Island girl Olivia Jade Attwood got involved in the chaos, which has now resulted in Charlotte making her Instagram private in a bid to stop the abuse she’s since been receiving.

“Dr Alex....WOW. I have no words for your horrendous sun burnt skin," Charlotte's original tweet said."AND BAD ATTITUDE, your bloody lucky to have one girl even take an interest in your wooden plank personality."
“The way you even thought you could mess poor Alexandra around makes me feel sick,” she commented, finishing with “#VilePinkface”.
Almost immediately, fans - and family - of the Love Island star hit back at Crosby, criticising her for 'bullying' the contestant and bringing up his looks, with the family members running Alex's Twitter account mentioning that he in fact has a skin condition.
Charlotte herself acknowledged that his family will understandably be "incredibly over sensitive" given that he is now a public figure open to scrutiny, however this is exactly what she received in return, and plenty of it.
Despite apologising for"offending anyone with myanimated observation of Alex’s sunburn", the TV star received 'thousands' of abusive messages and comments that referred to everything from her physical appearance to past behaviour on Geordie Shore, leaving her to upload a teary video to Instagram.
"It's pushed people to send me an influx... I'm not talking a couple of hundred, it's like thousands [of messages],which is now completely going against what they've stood for in this tweet," she said.
Alex's family had originally responded insinuating that Charlotte was "cyber bullying", while noting how that problem is related to "suicides and mental health problems" which would understandably cause distress to someone who innocently tweeted their thoughts on what is essentially a character on TV.
Charlotte has now made her Instagram account private and revealed to followers that she has been blocked from Alex's account so cannot speak with them to explain or resolvethis issue that has blown up massively.
Cyber bullying is absolutely no joke and so we just hope that Charlotte is able to take a breather from her social media until the backlash calms down, and that anyone who initially took an issue with her comments can consider how they retaliate instead of sending abuse'her'way, instead.
Social media is real life, everyone - be mindful of what you say, no matter who you think you're talking to.
