UPDATE: Angelina Jolie's lawyer Robert Offer has confirmed to BBC News that that the actress has filed to dissolve her marriage to Brad Pitt, saying in a statement: "This decision was made for the health of the family. She will not be commenting, and asks that the family be given its privacy at this time."

Angelina Jolie has filed for divorce from Brad Pitt after a 12year relationship, according to TMZ.

The actress is said to have motioned legal documents on Monday, citing irreconcilable differences between her and her husband.

Sources add that she's asking for physical custody of their six children, with Brad only getting visitation rights.

They go on to explainthat Angelina's decision is due to 'the way Brad was parenting the children' and that she was 'extremely upset with his methods.'

The couple have been together since 2004, and married just two years ago in August 2014.

It's also worth noting that they've not actually been seen together since mid-July, just ahead of their second wedding anniversary.
