Prepare For A Record-Breaking Band Aid No.1 On Sunday
It’s new entries galore in this week’s Official Chart Update but Band Aid 30 are well on their way to topping the chart this Sunday having sold over a whopping 252,000 copies of Do They Know It's Christmas? this week, making it the fastest-selling single of 2014 so far.
The Band Aid (1984), Band Aid II (1989) and Band Aid 20 (2004) versions of the track all charted at No.1, with the original shifting approximately 200,000 copies in two days, while Band Aid 20’s release sold a total of 297,000 in its full first week. Band Aid 30 could well be on track to smash them all!
Clean Bandit and Olly Murs are this week’s challengers however with Real Love Ft. Jess Glynne and Wrapped Up Ft. Travie McCoy entering at Nos. 2 and 3. Everyone’s a winner though as both acts also happen to feature in the charity supergroup'ssingle!
Current chart-topper Children In Need single Wake Me Up by Gareth Malone’s All Star Choir slips to No.4 and new in at No.5 is David Guetta with Dangerous Ft. Sam Martin.
[related]One Direction fall three places to No.6 with Steal My Girl as does Ed Sheeran who slips five places this week to No.7 with Thinking Out Loud.
Two more new entries follow with Wretch 32’s 6 Words charting at No.8 and Rixton’s Wait On Me entering at No.9.
Taylor Swift rounds off the Top 10 with the latest cut from her new album 1989 Blank Space climbing one spot this week to No.10.
