Hayley Atwell has revealed that she will be appearing in Avengers: Age Of Ultron - reprising her role as the popular Peggy Carter.

And the 32-year-old Londoner told Entertainment Weekly that director Joss Whedon had broken the news to her during a night out on the razz.

"We went out drinking one night and he was like, 'You know, it would be great to write something for you'," she explained.

"And I was like, 'Yes, Joss, it would! It would be amazing!'"

Atwell made her first Marvel Studios appearance in Captain America: The First Avenger, but that film's recent sequel saw Cap (Chris Evans) visiting an elderly version of her character.

She is also set to get her own TV spin-off series entitled Agent Carter - which will also star Dominic Cooper.
