Ariana Grande's 'No Tears Left to Cry' Is A Phenomenal Return

The pop superstar pays tribute to Manchester with a master class in poptimism...

Dry your eyes, Ariana Grande is finally back.

After announcing a new single earlier this week, the superstar has premiered ‘No Tears Left to Cry’ this morning and it is an absolutely phenomenal return.

The world has waited with bated breath for new music from Miss Grande during her hiatus, which came after the end of her Dangerous Woman Tour that made worldwide news last year.

As her first new single post-Manchester, fans didn’t know what to expect. Would it be a tribute? A ballad? A ‘Be Alright’-esque bop full of hope?

Well, ‘No Tears Left to Cry’ is all in one and so much more.

What starts as a grand Swedish pop moment quickly switches up into a magical, whimsical, left-of-center and - frankly - a bit of a weird optimistic bop. It’s out of this world, and it sounds like it.

“Oh, I just want you to come with me / We on another mentality,” she sings on the dreamy chorus.

Ariana’s vocals are nothing short of heavenly on the track as her harmonies build into a one-woman choir throughout, however her delivery is super playful and constantly switches up alongside the production itself.

“Ain’t got no tears left to cry / So I’m pickin' it up, pickin’ it up / I’m lovin’, I’m livin’, I’m pickin’ it up.”

The gorgeous track is accompanied by a truly stunning visual that is undoubtedly her best music video to date.

Directed by the famous Dave Meyers, the glossy visual tells the story of how Ariana’s world was turned upside down and clouded with darkness, yet with love the light returned.

It perfectly encapsulates the dream-like euphoria of the song and is a beautiful, subtle tribute to Manchester, marked by a bee flying away at the end of the video.
